About this converter

DDNG (Digital Negative) is Adobe's universal raw photo format. Camera manufacturers each have their own raw formats (CR2, NEF, ARW, etc.), and DNG was created to standardize them. Raw files contain all the sensor data captured by the camera — maximum quality, maximum flexibility, but also maximum file size and poor software compatibility.

Converting DNG to JPG produces a universally viewable image at a fraction of the file size. The tradeoff is loss of raw editing latitude: you lose the ability to adjust white balance, exposure, and color profiles non-destructively. JPG is the right choice when you are done editing and ready to share, upload, or archive a final version.

This tool uses browser-based rendering to extract the embedded preview image from DNG files. For many cameras, this preview is a high-quality full-resolution JPG already baked into the raw file. The extraction is instant and preserves the camera's own processing — no external software required.

FAQ

Q.Can I edit DNG files after converting to JPG?
A.

You can edit JPG files, but you lose the raw editing flexibility. Adjustments like white balance and exposure are baked in. For maximum editing latitude, keep your DNG files.

Q.Why use DNG instead of my camera's raw format?
A.

DNG is universal — it works in Adobe Lightroom, Capture One, and many other tools without needing a specific camera profile. Archiving DNG ensures future compatibility.

Q.Is this conversion free?
A.

Yes — free, no signup required, and processed locally in your browser.
