How local processing works
Traditional image converters follow a simple but dangerous pattern: you upload your file to a server, it gets processed in the cloud, and then you download the result. This means your image passes through multiple network hops, gets stored temporarily or permanently on server infrastructure, and may be accessed by automated systems or even human operators.
i2pic eliminates this entirely. When you drop a file, it stays in your browser's memory. Professional image processing libraries (Sharp, libwebp, Headless Chromium) run as WebAssembly directly inside your browser tab. The conversion happens at native CPU speed, and the result is generated locally — never passing through any server.

Technical details
WebAssembly Processing
Image conversion engines (Sharp, libwebp, etc.) are compiled to WebAssembly and run directly in your browser using the CPU, not the network.
Client-Side Only
No file upload endpoints exist. There are no server-side conversion functions. The only server interactions are loading the web app itself.
Temporary Memory Only
Files exist only in browser memory during processing. They are never written to disk, never cached, and disappear when you navigate away.
Minimal Analytics
We use privacy-focused analytics (Clarity, GA4) with anonymized data only. No personal tracking, no fingerprinting, no cross-site tracking.
